Yields: 2 cocktails Time: 5 minutes
Okay, there's not a lot that makes this extra special other than the fact that I use a sparkling cranberry prosecco instead of soda water to top off this delicious bev. I normally use regular prosecco or champagne, but winter time and the holidays always make me want cranberries!
This requires a lot of shaking, to get that egg white nice and frothy. My favorite kind of gin to use for this is Beefeaters. It's our favorite "bar gin," and this drink has a lot of components, so it's not particularly gin-forward. You can get away with a more cost effective gin because of it. :)
If there's anything you take from this, please let it be that you shouldn't be afraid of egg whites in cocktails. Yeah, I know, it sounds weird. But it makes the most lovely, frothy drinks. Behold:
Ingredients:
4 oz gin
2 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 oz simple syrup
1 egg white
splash of cranberry prosecco (about 1.5 oz)
Method:
Mix together the gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously (without ice) for approximately 1 minute.
Add 1 cup of ice to the shaker and shake again, for another minute.
Use a Hawthorne strainer to pour into the glass, over a fine mesh strainer.
Top with the prosecco, and garnish with a twist of lemon if you like.
