A BLT is a perfect sandwich. It's crunchy and salty, and when you add a creamy dijon sauce and avocado, it takes it up to a whole new level.
I know that you're thinking that something so simple doesn't need a recipe. And maybe you're right. But also this is the best way to cook bacon you can fight me on that. So if you leave here with anything, leave here with a foolproof way to make crispy, perfectly cooked bacon. And maybe some ideas for new BLT toppings. :)
Ingredients
1 1-pound package of bacon
4 slices of your favorite bread
4 slices pepper jack cheese
1 small tomato, sliced
Greenleaf lettuce
1/2 avocado
For the sauce:
1 tbsp mayo
1 tbsp dijon mustard
1 tsp honey
black pepper
Method:
Cook the bacon. This is the most important step. Preheat your oven to 375. Get a sheet pan out and cover it in foil, and place a baking rack on top. Put your bacon slices (spaced out! Don’t crowd the pan!) on the rack, and bake for 12 minutes. Flip the bacon over, and cook for an additional 7 minutes. Take those perfect pieces out.
While the bacon is cooking, make your sauce. Combine the mayo, dijon mustard, honey, and black pepper. Set aside until you're ready to assemble.
Once the bacon is done, you're ready to assemble your sandos. Toast the bread. Spread dijon sauce one side of the sandwiches, and mash the avocado on the other. Then layer the bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheese on top, and enjoy!
